We have an important planning meeting to plan the ULU Freshers’ Festival which is due to be held on 1 Oct. I imagine that this meeting c/would then form some sort of Entertainments Committee. Commitment beyond the 1st Oct, however, is not necessary!
Please bring people and ideas to the planning meeting on:
1st September (Wednesday)
9 Mabledon Place, London, WC1H 9AZ
This meeting is directly after the ‘NUS Road To The National Demo’ to be held in Hamilton House. If you do not have two people registered from your uni to go please contact NUS as soon as possible to arrange.
Please also send this invite to anyone who is good at this sort of stuff even if they are not going to the Demo planning event.
The aim of the Freshers’ Festival evening is to not only provide a large space for smaller colleges to have a fab time with their students but also to showcase the many talents that Uni’s of London have to offer. At the moment we have people from Heythrop, QM, SOAS, RAM, RVC and CSSD expressing an interest in providing some element to the event.
For example; the Circus Society from RVC are providing children’s entertainment; Queen Mary’s ACS are helping with the halal Jamaican BBQ and SOAS is, of course, co-ordinating the World Music room.
Various other bands, DJ’s, artists and other forms of entertainment are also needed. Please have a think about what your uni could offer. Maybe they want to paint some massive backdrops, maybe do photography on the night, maybe organise a fun raffle or a million and one other things that will make the event a night to remember.
Please send this invite to anyone who may be interested in organising this behemoth event.
Right, see you at the Road to the Demo thingy and/or soon.
PS and FYI: Heythrop is also organising a number of other events this year (The History of Black Music in London: from Dub to Dubstep on 22 Oct). If you would like your uni to be involved with this or any other events, even if you can’t come on the 1st Sept, please ask anyone interested to email me with ENTS in the subject line and I will add you to a mailing list of like-minded people to organise stuff for the future.
